Current Minutes of Omicron Tau Chapter Meetings:

Here's the minutes guys - I know they're long but they have lots of good info in them so keep 'em handy!
Also if you weren't at the meeting (you and I both know who you are!) be aware that unless you emailed me an excuse before the meeting, that you now have one unexcused absence for the semester. If you get three unexcused, you will go inactive and have to pay $35 to re-activate. And that would just be dumb - so come to the meetings or let me know! Thanks bunches :-)

Minutes 1/9
Megan
- Everyone introduced themselves and said something they did over break
- received a lot, meaning 2 (two), Christmas cards
- passed around sign up sheet for blood drive Wed Jan 18th 11am-5pm
- passed around some copies of Torch and Trefoil
Ben
- passed around birthday list to fill in your birthday so you can get a card!
Lauren
- several alum said they appreciated the Christmas cards
- sending our a newsletter to alumni soon, so if you have anything you want to put in it, let her know asap
Becky
- total service hours for chapter last semester = 764 hours!
- service hour queen = Brandi with 51.5 hours
- remember that service you do for other organizations or classes also counts for A?Ω
- service opportunity with Juvenile Court mentoring program Thursdays from 4-6pm if you are good at algebra or speak English
Brandi
- service opportunity with Alma Middle School after school program Mon-Thurs 3-5pm
Ben (again)
- point out our fantastic new white board with fellowship events for each month
Jan: ice skating, volleyball
Feb: planetarium, dance
Mar: paint rock, tie dye shirts
Apr: rock climbing, senior cookout
- will send out email with definite dates
- bring him more fellowship ideas because we want to have lots of fun
- also talk to him about using the A?Ω room for studying
Heather
- pledging is coming up soon!
- think about being a Big – ask H or anyone who is Big for more info
Jan 17 (Tues) at 9pm – Info meeting for people interested in being brothers
- please come to answer questions and show our great participation
Megan says “Bring someone. Bring boys – we like boys. And girls too. Bring a boy and a girl.” So invite your friends to be brothers too!
Jan 23 (Mon) at 8:45pm – meet in chapel for pledge ceremony and dress nicely
March 20 – initiation ceremony – mark your calendars
- new application process Megan (again)
- Life Membership is $50 until 6 months after you graduate and then it’s $100
- means A?Ω will follow you everywhere you go
- get Torch &Trefoil for free and a cool circle pin
- discount on Geico car insurance
- SERVE conference in July
Emilee
- SPP – Samaritan’s Purse Project
- raise money to buy animals and such for 3rd world families
- campus wide “competition” between dorms, sororities and fraternities
- raise money in first 2 (two) weeks of Feb and then meet with heads of each group to decide what they want to purchase from the magazine to help someone
- will put results in Almanian (and other papers?)
- formed a committee because this is very exciting and important!!
Hadley and Elizabeth
- Relay for Life
- sign up for the team online
- will send another email with the link to the website
- has luminaries that people can purchase for $10
- Elizabeth added that Hadley is the computer guru – props to her – and that there will be more details on Relay next week
Ben (again)
- some Alternative Spring Break trips still have room left – the Kentucky environmental trip (hang out with Ben for a week!) and both Hurricane Katrina trips
Megan (again)
- pass out attendance policy
- need to elect new Sergeant at Arms (sets up ceremonies)
- reminder that must be member of EC before you can be president and seniors can’t be president because as Megan explained, “We don’t want to leave anyone in the pooper by themselves without a paddle. And I’m the paddle”
- Joann Piccolo and Drew Emge nominated – vote taken
- congratulations to Drew – pick up your binder after the meeting
- read through the new official attendance policy so everyone understands
- email excused/personal absences to alphaphiomega@alma.edu before the meeting!!
Cori
- asked for and received volunteers to hang up flyers about upcoming Info Mtg
Then we sang “Happy Birthday” to Katelyn Bush as she attempted to twirl in the middle of the room and then the Toast song because nobody wanted to ask any questions after such a long meeting!
